A Giant Problem: Rejection

Hello! As we continue to explore “Giant Problems” in our lives it’s clear that as broken people we constantly deal with things that impede us from fully experiencing God’s Love, Grace and Calling in and on our lives… but the irony is that at the same time these “Giant Problems”, when given fully up to God, bring us closer to Him and help us live lives that reflect his Love, Grace and Calling!

Today we’re going to take a look at rejection - I would imagine every single one of us has dealt with some level of rejection in our lives, not getting the promotion, not getting the part we auditioned for, a failed relationship. The list goes on and on from seemingly small rejection to life shattering rejection - When I have experienced rejection in my life it has been painful - feelings of inadequacy, loneliness, and often confusion dominate my thoughts. And even as a believer, it has on occasion caused me to question God - How could He not have “equipped” me? Why has He left me? Where is God in this?  When we stop there and don’t truly give it over to God is when we begin to live in fear of rejection -A disengaged life of timidity and fear...  A life God has not called us to.

2 Timothy 1:7

for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

If I’m honest with myself, when those feelings of rejection begin to overwhelm me it’s because I’ve put my self worth and trust in the outcome of those things that are rejecting me and not in a God who loves me and is my ultimate fulfillment.

John 4:14

But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

Rejection is part of this life, the Bible is clear on that - But we are loved by a God who knows the pain of rejection and longs to be our comfort, joy and fulfillment.

2 Corinthians 12:9

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

When we are rejected it is an opportunity to see God work, to see His love in action, for us to realize that everything we have is in Him and through Him.

Romans 8:28

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose”

So, don’t let rejection be a giant problem in your life.
